TOPSoccer

TOPSoccer is a nationwide recreational soccer program for players with disabilities or neurodevelopmental differences. Arlington Soccer Club (ASC) runs a free 6-week TOPSoccer program every Fall and Spring season.

Participants

ASC TOPSoccer is for children and youth ages 5-22 who would benefit from a parasport soccer environment adapted to the needs of players with disabilities or neurodevelopmental differences. Family/caregiver participation is welcomed but not expected. Participants do not need to reside in Arlington or attend school in Arlington.

Format

TOPSoccer sessions have a very flexible format. No soccer playing experience is necessary. There are various supervised activity stations that allow players to develop soccer skills at their own pace. Some players engage in friendly scrimmages, while others prefer more individual play. Our goal is to create a low-pressure, safe space for players to explore soccer in their own way. We provide adaptive soccer equipment (e.g. audible balls, weighted balls, oversized balls, etc) to accommodate a range of needs and preferences.

Schedule

Sessions are typically held on Sunday afternoons at 3:30-4:30pm every Fall and Spring at an accessible field in Arlington. Session dates are posted when registration opens.

Registration

There is no fee to participate, but registration is required. Registration typically opens in mid-August for the Fall season and in mid-March for the Spring season. Space is limited to 40 participants (offered on a first-come first-serve basis) to ensure a positive experience for everyone. If the program is capped by the time you register, your name will be added to the waitlist. Waitlisted players are accepted to the program if space and resources allow.

ASC sends a club-wide email announcement when registration opens each season. If you would like to make sure you receive this announcement, please contact the ASC Registrar (registrar@arlingtonsoccerclub.org). Once registration opens, you can register your player at the following link: https://secure.adminsports.net/arlingtonmasoccer.

Coaching & Supervision

Sessions are run by ASC President and TOPSoccer Coordinator, Travis Baggett. Travis holds a US Soccer D Coaching License, is a USYS-certified TOPSoccer instructor, and is a primary care physician. Additional ASC coaches and staff are on-hand to provide coaching and supervision. Each participant will be paired with a youth buddy who will assist and encourage them through sessions. Please feel free to contact Travis (tbaggett@arlingtonsoccerclub.org) if you have any questions about ASC TOPSoccer.

TOPSoccer Video

In Spring 2025, a group of Arlington High School filmmaking students made a wonderful video that nicely captures the spirit and goals of ASC’s TOPSoccer program.
