Tryout Committee

The Soccer Tryout Committee is responsible for overseeing and supporting all aspects of the club’s tryout and team selection process to ensure it is organized, fair, transparent, and aligned with the club’s philosophy and player development goals. The committee works collaboratively to plan and coordinate tryout logistics, including scheduling, registration, field assignments, communication, staffing, and evaluation procedures.

A key role of the committee is to support a consistent and objective player evaluation process by establishing clear evaluation standards and ensuring coaches and evaluators follow a structured approach during selections. The committee helps promote fairness by ensuring all players are given an equal opportunity to be evaluated while also helping reduce bias and conflicts of interest within the decision-making process.

In addition to logistics and oversight, the committee plays an important role in maintaining a positive experience for players, families, and coaches throughout tryouts. This includes clear communication, professionalism, and ensuring the environment reflects the club’s values and expectations.

The committee also helps ensure that team selections align with the club’s long-term player development philosophy by considering not only current ability, but also factors such as coachability, attitude, teamwork, and developmental potential. The overall objective is to place players in the most appropriate environment for their growth and success.

Following tryouts, the committee may also review the overall process, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for future seasons to continue strengthening the club’s tryout structure and experience.
